PROVO, Utah – No. 11 BYU women’s soccer hosts Colorado Friday Aug. 28 before traveling to Nebraska on Monday, Aug. 31.
The Cougars host the Buffaloes in the regular season home opener at 7 p.m. MDT on South Field. The game will be broadcast live on BYUtv and the radio call can be heard on ESPN Radio 960 AM and the Cougar IMG Sports Network on BYUCougars.com and the BYU Cougars app.
BYU will continue on to Lincoln, Nebraska, for the first true road game of the season in the brand new Barbara Hibner Stadium. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. CDT and can be heard on ESPN 960 AM and the Cougar IMG Sports Network. HuskersNSide offers an on demand video feed for a fee.
BYU won its season opener 2-0 over No. 18 Cal last Friday in Hawai’i. The Cougars did so on goals from Elena Medeiros and Hermann Trophy candidate Ashley Hatch. Junior goalkeeper Rachel Boaz and the defense held the Bears scoreless on 12 shots.
The Cougars are 16-2-2 in regular season home openers and Colorado is the team that has eliminated BYU from the past two NCAA tournaments in the second and first round. The teams played in the first round last year with Colorado winning 2-0 on a snowy pitch. They won 2-1 in the second round in Tallahassee, Florida, in 2013. The Buffaloes were picked to finish sixth in the Pac-12.
Nebraska beat No. 23 Kansas over the weekend 3-0 and was picked to finish 10th out of the 14 Big Ten teams. The Huskers are the only non-Pac 12 opponent the Cougars face the first three weeks of the regular season.
Zions Bank is giving away t-shirts to the first 2,500 fans, while the first 800 students to show their ID will receive free hot dogs.
ROC passes are available to be picked up at the Marriott Center ticket office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the HFAC ticket office from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Smith Fieldhouse ticket office on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Photo ID must be shown to receive your pass. Friday's game will be the first event where ROC passes will be used for admission.
