PROVO, Utah – Thirty-four BYU swimmers and divers were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic team Friday afternoon.
The Cougars topped all other MPSF teams, with 14 earning the award from the men's side and 20 from the women's team.
Matt Denkers, Kevin Dreesen, Kent Fellows, David Harlan, Nathan Henderson, Preston Jenkins, Rainer Ng, Stephen Richards, Seth Russell, Chad Sorensen, Scott Sorensen, Trayton Speth, Jordan Tuckfield and Luis Ventura gained the honor from the men's team.
Natalie Bennion, Riley Merrill, Sarah Bushnell, Anna Dahl, Sydney Dahl, Brenna Dickson, Alora Foliaki, Emily Harris, Shelby Johnson, Erica Lienhard, Samantha Lingenbrink, Allison McCormick, Vanessa Moffatt, Lillian Moore, Emma Richards, Hanna Skaggs, Alexandria Sorensen, Ashlee Spindler, Ali Tippetts-Kottcamp and Emily To'o were honored from the women's team.
To be eligible for the All-Academic honor, athletes must have earned a 3.00 or better cumulative grade point average, be at least an academic sophomore, have completed one full academic year at the institution and have competed in 50 percent of swim or dive competition.
