Cougar Club Luncheon Honoree January 7, 2009
We are pleased to recognize Bill Fillmore as the Cougar Club Honoree for our January luncheon.
Bill is a long-time club member who is currently a Golden Cougar; with the coming of the new year his support has now helped BYU student athletes for more than two decades. Not only has Bill helped financially, he’s also been generous with his time, serving as Cougar Club National President, a member of the Athletic Leadership Council, and Chairman of the Cougar Club Professionals’ Golf Tournament.
Bill’s passion for BYU sports has also been demonstrated by the support our teams and coaches have received from the law firm where Bill is the lead partner. For years the Fillmore Spencer Law Firm has displayed a large banner reading “Welcome to Cougar Town.” Among the thousands who have seen the signs while driving by on University Avenue, apparently it also caught the eye of at least one thief (or Ute fan), because it was stolen. Bill bought a new one, but has been more careful about securing the replacement.
The last two years the Law Firm has hosted a large “football tailgate” party for their employees and the other tenants of Jamestown Square, including a barbeque and opportunities for their friends and neighbors to buy BYU merchandise and Cougar Club memberships.
We express our appreciation to Bill Fillmore for his long-term, loyal, and multi-faceted support of BYU Athletics.
