Kaye & Allen Peterson live in Orem, Utah; they have been season ticket holders since the1960s and club members since 1989. They were introduced to BYU Basketball by their neighbors and have absolutely loved the Cougars ever since.
Several years ago, when their son, Clark, told his family he wanted to get married on September 1st, Allen replied, “Son that is the day of the BYU vs UCLA game and no one will be at your wedding—including your mom and dad.”
After a brief consultation with his bride-to-be, Clark wisely came back with a rescheduled date of August 23rd. August 23rd is also Kay and Alan’s wedding date so they were pleased to share their anniversary. By their own admission, the Petersons have lovely grandchildren, but it is a standing rule that their children do not ask them to babysit on game days.
The Petersons have traveled to many BYU away games. As a retirement gift to each other, Allen and Kaye traveled to Australia with the Men’s Basketball Team.
Their favorite memories of BYU Sports include Football’s 1990 win over Miami, Kevin Nixon -court shot to beat win the WAC tournament, and the 2001Women’s Basketball win against Utah in the Mountain West Conference Tournament when the women trailed by double digits at halftime and came back to beat Utah 57 to 50.
Allen has a personal motto “ I like me best when I have done good for someone else.” Both he and Kaye have lived by this motto. They chose to donate to BYU because they felt it was the right thing to do. In addition to their annual donations as Bronze Cougars, every Tuesday they donate their time to give tours and serve as hosts in the Student Athlete building.
“Kaye says, “We love to support BYU. There are so many good kids here and we love that we can help make a difference in their lives”
Thank you Allen and Kaye for all that you do. It is our pleasure to present you as our honored Cougar Club Members.
