BEFORE BYU:
- High School: Volleyball and basketball letterwinner at Taylorsville High School
- Played under head coach, and father, Ronald Tye, for volleyball
- Team captain
- MVP senior year
- Three time All-State.
- Club: Played for the Twin Peaks club team under coaches Barry Larsen and Ronald Tye.
PERSONAL:
- Son of Ronald and Tammy Tye
- Has two brothers and two sisters
- Born in Salt Lake City
- Served an LDS mission to Baton Rouge, Louisiana 2007-09
- Favorite movie is Fight Club, favorite book is The Book of Mormon, favorite band is Weezer, favorite actor is Denzel Washington, favorite food is ice cream
- Non-athlete heros: his parents because they are the greatest people he knows and the best example he has had
- Grew up coming to BYU volleyball games and has always wanted to play here
