PROVO, Utah -- With the start of the BYU basketball season just around the corner, Cougar fans are showing their excitment for the 2004-05 team. Season ticket sales are ahead of last year's pace, when the Cougars topped the Mountain West Conference and ranked 11th nationally in average attendance.

The Cougars not only boast a talented and deep, albeit young, team this season but also play one of the best schedules in the country. In addition to facing strong teams away from Provo -- including potential preseason No. 1 North Carolina, BYU will host some great games in the Marriott Center in 2004-05.

During nonconference play in November and December, BYU ticket holders will see the Cougars host two Pac-10 teams -- California in the Marriott Center and Washington State in the Delta Center, the ACC's North Carolina State and instate foes Utah State and Southern Utah in addition to Boise State and Santa Clara.

Cougar fans wanting to be a part of BYU basketball history need to circle Dec. 21 on their calendars when All-American and ACC Player of the Year Julius Hodge leads NC State into town in the first-ever meeting between BYU and an ACC team in Provo.

Building on the overwhelming success of last year's inaugural Delta Center contest against Oklahoma State, BYU returns to Salt Lake City again this year on Dec. 11. BYU's 4 p.m. game in the Delta Center against Washington State is included in season ticket packages, with additional corporate hosting opportunities available.

Touting a top 20 recruiting class and some solid returners led by MWC Player of the Year candidate Mike Hall, the 2004-05 BYU basketball team should entertain the Cougar faithful as they challenge for the MWC title and their third straight NCAA bid.

Ticket prices have not increased in 2004-05. For the best value and seating locations, Cougar fans should purchase season tickets. Tickets are available at the BYU Ticket Office or by calling 422-BYU1 or 800-322-BYU1 or online at BYUTickets.com.

Season ticket pricing options include:

- Lower-bowl chair $240

- Upper-bowl chair $155

- Upper bowl bench $87
