BYU to Play Syracuse Thursday in Denver, Tickets on Sale Monday
PROVO -- BYU (21-8) received an at-large invitation to the NCAA Tournament Sunday and will play defending national champion Syracuse (21-7) of the Big East Conference Thursday in Denver at the Pepsi Center. BYU-Syracuse will be the second game (approximately 1:15 p.m. tip) of the first session, which starts at 10:40 a.m.
The Cougars are the 12th seed in the Phoenix Region while Syracuse is the No. 5 seed. The winner of the BYU-Syracuse game will advance to play the winner of No. 4 Maryland (19-11) vs. No. 13 UTEP (24-7) on Saturday. BYU has an 0-4 record all-time vs. Syracuse but the two teams have not met since 1968.
This will be BYU's 21st NCAA appearance and its third in the last four years. BYU has an 11-23 NCAA record. Last year the Cougars lost in the opening round to the Big East's Connecticut Huskies, 58-53.
BYU's ticket allotment for Thursday's two-game session (BYU vs. Syracuse and Maryland vs. UTEP) will go on sale Monday morning at 9 a.m. for Cougar Club members. Availability will be based on membership level, with Legacy members being limited to eight tickets and other Club members limited to four tickets.
Cougar Club members may purchase tickets at the Marriot Center Ticket Office or by calling 378-BYU1 or 800-322-BYU1.
A student allotment of tickets for BYU students will also go on sale Monday at 9 a.m. on a first-come-first-served basis until sold out. BYU students must apply in person at the Marriott Center Ticket Office and must present a valid BYU student ID card. Students may purchase two tickets.
Any remaining tickets not sold Monday will be made available to the general public beginning Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. If available, the general public can purchase up to six tickets.
The two-game session ticket price is $55.
