Mark Michaelis to Transfer from BYU

PROVO -- Reserve BYU basketball center Mark Michaelis has decided to transfer from BYU.

"Mark Michaelis has decided to transfer from BYU," said BYU coach Steve Cleveland. "It is not known at this time where he will attend school. He has a redshirt year and two seasons of eligibility remaining."

Michaelis played one season at BYU, averaging 2.3 points and 2.1 rebounds in 28 games as a sophomore reserve center. The 6-foot-10 Michaelis was one of several players who would have played a backup role to starter Mekeli Wesley during the upcoming season.

Michaelis played his freshman year at Utah Valley State College before serving an LDS Church mission in New York.

"Mark is an outstanding young man," Cleveland said. "I wish him the very best in his future endeavors."
