BYU Players Earn All-Conference Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS -- The Mountain West Conference today announced the 2000 All-Mountain West Conference teams and honorees as voted by the league's eight head coaches. BYU's Owen Pochman (K), Justin Ena (LB), Setema Gali (DE) and Aarond Edmonds (P) were honored as first-team selections, while Luke Staley (RB), Tevita Ofahengaue (TE), Jason Scukanec (OL), Chris Hoke (DT), Hans Olsen (DT) and Jared Lee (S) were named to the All-MWC second team.

Four other BYU players received honorable mention honors, including Ben Archibald (OL), Margin Hooks (WR), Aaron McCubbins (OL), Ford Poston (OL) and Dustin Rykert (OL).

Aaron Edmonds

Listed as the starter in 12-of-12 games for the Cougars this season ... earned coaches award for performances against Florida State, UNLV and San Diego State ... ranks tops in the MWC with a 43.6 yards-per-punt average ... has recorded 67 punts on the season, totaling 2,924 yards ... recorded six punts for 319 yards against Mississippi State, averaging a season-high 53.2 yards ... has 19 times registered punts of 50 yards or more on the season, including a season-long 61 yarder against Mississippi State ... has recorded an impressive 17 punts inside the 20-yard line and has had only four touchbacks ...
