PROVO -- BYU football fans will get their first chance to meet the 2003 Cougars at the annual Meet-the-Team Night and Watermelon Bust on Thursday, Aug. 21, beginning at 6 p.m. (MT) at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
Following a brief program, which will introduce each member of this year's team, in addition to a few comments from head coach Gary Crowton, fans will then have the opportunity to mingle with the players, get autographs, and enjoy delicious, fresh Green River watermelon.
The BYU women's volleyball team and soccer team will also be on hand, along with the 2003 Cheer Squad, offering fun, interactive games and activities for fans of all ages. The BYU Bookstore will also have merchandise available for fans to gear up for the Cougars' season-opener on Aug. 28 against Georgia Tech.
Excel Entertainment will also be offering its latest video/DVD release, "The Last Miracle for LaVell," an inside look at LaVell Edwards'
The annual event, including the watermelon and activities are free.
The Cougars begin the 2003 season on August 28 at 7:30 p.m. (MT) against Georgia Tech. During halftime ceremonies, BYU will retire legendary quarterback Steve Young's jersey. Both season and single-game tickets are still available by calling 1-800-322-BYU1 or visiting www.byutickets.com.
