BYU Places Three in Top 25 to Finish Eighth

Overall the Cougasrs shot a three round total of 891 (310-291-290, +39).

Harvey carded the best round of his collegiate career with a 67 (-4). Overall he shot 221 (+8) to finish in a tie for 20th, his second top 20 finish in as many tournaments, after he placed 12th at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, Feb. 20-22.

Senior Kyle Wight was the tournament leader for BYU as he shot 218 (76-69-73, +5). Wight placed ninth, matching a career-best finish set in the fall 2001 season at the Adams Cup of Newport.

In only his third collegiate tournament, freshman Greg Matchaler continued his solid spring season play. After struggling with a first round 80, he rebounded with rounds of 69 and 73, to finish in 24th place.

BYU All-American Manuel Merizalde is struggling to find his game as he finished 17-over-par (75-78-77=230) in 57th place, marking the first time he has had back-to-back 50th place finishes in his collegiate career.

Host USC won the tournament by three strokes (296-285-283=864), over second place finishers Washington and Oregon. Brock Mackenzie of Washington was the individual champion, as he carded a 208 (71-68-69), to win by three strokes.
