BREMERTON -- The BYU men's golf team continued its fall season Monday with the first two rounds of the Husky Invitation. As a team, the Cougars sit in 10th place heading into the final round, with freshman Adam Tebbs leading the team tied for 21st place at 6-over-par.

The Husky Invitational is a 13-team tournament including 69 competitors and is being held on the par-72 Olympic Course at the Gold Mountain Golf Club. The yardage is set at 7061 yards.

Tebbs shot even-par 72 in the first round and a 6-over-par 78 in the second round. He recorded eight birdies on the day.

"This course is the host of the NCAA host regional," BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. "It was long and tough today; it was a bear. They have made four new tee boxes here and the tees were pushed all the way back. It?s a championship course and they?ve done a great job on it."

Brockbank said that although his team is hitting some great shots, he is confident that they can play better golf and is glad his players are competing on such a course. He attributed some of his team?s performance to youth and lack of inexperience, but also said he knows his team will only continue to improve with experience.

Sophomore Robbie Fillmore is one shot behind Tebbs on the leaderboard, and echoed Brockbank in describing his rounds on Monday.

"The weather was perfect and the course was great, but we have a lot of work to do," Fillmore said. "The course is difficult, but we just have to step up and play the way we know how to play."

The second round was suspended due to darkness. The conclusion of the second round and the entire final round of the tournament will be held Tuesday, and all tournament results can be found at
