Cougars Leading After First Two Rounds

FRESNO, Calif., (Oct. 9, 2004)--The Cougars lead the Fresno State Lexus Classic after the first two rounds on Friday.

The Cougars shot a 278-270--548 to lead all teams and to gain a nine stroke advantage going into to Saturday's final round.

Four Cougars finished the day in the top-20.

Canadian Greg Machtaler led all golfers with a 70-63--133. His second round 63 was a new career low.

Sophomore Jake Ellison also played well, staying just two strokes behind Machtaler to land in a tie for second place. Oscar Alvarez also finished in the top-10, tying for seventh place with a 4-under performance.

Ron Harvey Jr. continues to be a solid contributer. His two-round total of 142 tied him for 19th place heading into Saturday's final round.

Todd Miller and Clay Ogden are also competing in the six-man tournament for the Cougars.
