Ellison to Play for U.S. in Japan

PROVO -- BYU All-American Jake Ellison has received an invitation to play in the prestigious 2006 Fuji Xerox U.S.A. vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Ellison, the MWC player of the year will be part of a 12 member squad playing at the Sun Hills Country Club in Japan's Tochigi prefecture. It is the 31st annual competition and will run from July 13th through the 15th.

"I'm really excited to represent our country and play at this tournament," Ellison said. "It should be a great experience."

The tournament format is similar to that of the Ryder Cup played on the PGA tour. Players from both teams pair up in a match play format until the last day when they have an individual tournament round.
