STOCKTON -- Senior Nick Killpack is putting forth a strong effort for the BYU men’s golf team at the Pacific Invitational, guiding the team to a tie for fourth place at one-over-par after round one.
Killpack, a St. George, Utah native, is currently in sixth place after day one at one-under-par. BYU’s lone senior guided the team by making four birdies on the day and just three bogeys.
Junior Robbie Fillmore appears poised for another strong tournament as he is tied for 16th place after the first round. The East High product made even-par 71 for the first day by making three birdies and three bogeys.
Fellow junior Brady Johnson, fresh off a 7th-place finish at the Baylor Intercollegiate last week, is also off to a great start tied for 16th with Fillmore at even-par 71. Johnson posted similar numbers, with the exception of making four birdies and four bogeys in the first round.
Stephen Rodgers is making his second start and third tournament appearance in his freshman campaign as he is currently in a tie at the No. 26 spot at two-over par 73. Rodgers made four birdies in the first round, but also suffered four bogeys and one double-bogey.
Esteban Calisto, a sophomore from Quito, Ecuador, is in a tie for the No. 40 spot at three-over-par 74 after a solid round of play.
The Stockton Sports Commission Pacific Invitational is hosted by the University of the Pacific at the par-71 Brookside Country Club and features two ranked teams, No. 15 UC Davis and No. 49 Kansas State.
