TUSCON -- In a field with some of the nation’s top golf programs, the BYU men’s golf team battled to a tie for 13th place after nearly two rounds of play at the Arizona Intercollegiate.

The breezy second round was cut short due to sundown as the teams were left with three to four holes of golf to play, which will be resumed early Tuesday morning before the final round of play.

The Cougars find themselves tied with conference foe New Mexico at 20-over-par. Freshman Jordan Hammer currently leads the team in 30th place at +4 overall after finishing the shortened 2nd round at even-par. He made three birdies and three bogeys in the second round.

Junior Robbie Fillmore made big strides in the second round, moving up to the No. 44 spot along with Brady Johnson at 6-over-par. Fillmore shot even-par in the second round with a birdie and bogey effort, while Johnson completed the second round at +1 with a birdie and two bogeys.

Senior Nick Killpack and sophomore Esteban Calisto rounded up the final spots for the Cougars at Nos. 56 and 80, respectively.

Zach Byrd of Coastal Carolina leads the field at 8-under-par after finishing the day at an impressive nine-under. Fellow Mountain West schools San Diego State and UNLV are in third and sixth place, respectively, at 4-over and 10-over-par.
