COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Three members of the men's golf team were named Academic All-Mountain West for the 2002-03 season.

BYU led the MWC by having 125 student-athletes named Academic All-MWC out of the 622 honored for the 2003 spring season.

To be eligible for selection student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at BYU while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.

Ronald Harvey, Jared Overton and Daniel Summerhays represented the men's golf team with academic citations.

Harvey, a sophomore from Canada, helped lead the Cougars to a second-place finish at the 2003 MWC tournament by finishing two-over and in 10th place.

Overton, a senior from Utah, finished his final season for the Cougars. In the Cougar Classic Tournament, Overton played in his last home tournament and shot a final round 72 to finish eight-over-par.

Summerhays, a freshman from Utah, posted three Top 5 finishes during his freshman season. Summerhays was named 2003 MWC Freshman of the Year and earned First Team All-MWC honors.

Harvey will return to the Cougar team, but the Cougars will miss Summerhays for the next two seasons as he will be serving a mission.
