PROVO -- The College Swimming Coaches Association of America announced its scholar-athlete awards for 2002-03, with the BYU men's swimming and diving team earning the CSCAA's highest rating.
The Cougars received a superior rating by earning a team grade point average of 3.28, the fifth highest Division I team GPA in the nation. Previously, the team had placed second in the nation for their team cumulative GPA for winter semester 2003.
Senior BYU swimmer Randy Belliston was recognized as one of the top 25 individuals in Division I for academic achievement. Belliston also represented BYU in the 200 IM, 200 Breast and 400 IM at the NCAA Championships.
Individuals that qualify for the CSCAA recognition must have a cumulative GPA of 3.500 or higher and must qualify for the NCAA Championships.
