Sophomore Brittany Davis was named Mountain West Conference Female Swimmer of the week after a tremendous showing over the weekend.
Davis helped the Cougars to a 3-0 record in dual meets and a win at the Lobo Invitational last week, collecting five first-place finishes and two second-place finishes. In a four-way dual meet against New Mexico, San Diego State and Northern Arizona, she posted wins in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.88) and 500-yard freestyle (5:04.37), while swimming the last leg of the second-place 200-yard freestyle relay squad (1:38.01). At the Lobo Invite, Davis claimed individual victories in the 500 free (5:03.23) and 100-yard backstroke (59.29). She also placed second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.05) and the 200 free (1:56.36).
Davis was named female swimmer of the week twice last year, and this is her first award for the 2004-2005 season.
