Getting To Know ... John Kendrick

Q: What or who is your inspiration?

A: My team inspires me

Q: Something no one would guess about you is?

A: I'm a big fan of cartoons

Q: What's your most extreme dream/goal?

A: To win Mountain West Conference

Q: What is your biggest accomplishment in life so far?

A: Making it to BYU

Q: Where do you see yourself in five years?

A: Still at BYU, swimming fast, getting ready to graduate

Q: How'd you get started in swimming?

A: I joined a summer league in Georgia when I was five, then when we moved to Texas at age nine, I joined a year-round club team and started to get serious

Q: Why swimming?

A: Because I love it

Q: How did you spend your off-season?

A: Hanging out and getting ready for the next season

Q: Do you have any pre-meet rituals?

A: I usually just eat oatmeal, and listen to Mormon Tabernacle Choir before the meet

Q: Do you have a good luck charm? If so, what is it?

A: No

Q: What do you do in your free time?

A: I really like wakeboarding, playing basketball, listening to music and hanging out with friends

Q: If you could invite any three people to dinner who would they be?

A: Michael Jordan, Hilary Duff, Dave Chappelle

Q: Who has had the greatest influence on your swimming


A: My parents

Q: What do you appreciate most about Coach Powers, Crump

or Russell?

A: Powers-The time and care that he puts into our team, and how he gets us ready to win

Hero: Michael Phelps

One place you'd like to visit: England

Favorite movie: Anchorman

Favorite book: The DaVinci Code

Toughest part of swimming: Training with technique and pushing yourself to be better than you already are
