PROVO -- For the first time of her diving career, BYU sophomore Tawni Jones was named to the All-American team as a second team member. Jones earned this All-American honor for her 14th-place finish on the 3-meter board.
Jones was the only Cougar to qualify for this year's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. She also dove from the 1-meter board in this national competition and finished in 26th place from that height.
"I was very proud of Tawni," BYU diving coach Keith Russell said. "She dove consistently throughout the whole meet. The level of diving was very high at nationals this year."
Jones was awarded a score of 307.35 for her efforts on the 3-meter board, while the winning dive in this event was 365. A score of 251.30 was given to Jones for her performance from the 1-meter board.
