Toughest class you've taken at BYU?

They are two, Pol. Sci. 200 because of the amount of work and Econ 388 because of all the heavy math.

If you could play any other sport at BYU, what and why?

Football, because I like the game even though I never practiced it before. I also don't have the size to play basketball.

Favorite place to compete on the road?

I liked SMU this year a lot. Within the MWC I like Las Vegas.

Favorite Restaurant in Provo?

What's your most extreme dream/goal?

Make the Brazilian team for the 2008 Olympics.

What is your biggest accomplishment in life so far?

Making the team to the 2006 World Cup in Sweden and Germany (9th place).

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I see myself with a MBA under the belt, working for a nice Brazilian multi-national company in some European country and with my wife pregnant who will be pregnant with our first son.

How'd you get started in swimming?

I always loved it. In Brazil we would go to swimming schools since we were young. I started at the age of 2, started competing when I was 8 and never stopped. I tried other sports like judo, kung fu, tennis, basketball, soccer, and high-jump; swimming was the only one that I could do right.

What do you do in your free time?

I like to read, play racing games and watch movies.

If you could live some one else's life who would it be?

Paris Hilton's....never. I'd probably live my own life 5 years from now or maybe Michael Phelps' life today.

Jota, it means "J" in Portuguese.

Who has had the greatest influence on your swimming career?

My parents and their great support throughout my life and Coach Powers, who is the main reason why I still swim.

Favorite movie:

The Godfather

Toughest part of swimming:

Give our best effort for 11 months a year and be compensated in only one or two occasions.

Favorite Coach's Quote:

Coach Powers doesn't have many quotes that he always say, but it is very motivating when he let's me know that he trusts my skills to help the team.

Jack Bauer or Cosmo?

Jack Who?...Just kidding, I'm not a big fan of 24, I think Cosmo is much better!
