COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- BYU senior Jorge Azevedo and TCU junior R.J. Hesselberg were named Mountain West Conference Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, while BYU's Rachel Grant and Tawni Jones were named women's swimmer and diver of the week, respectively.

Azevedo, a Guaratingueta, Brazil, product, won three individual events and was part of four first-place relay teams for the Cougars in a conference win over TCU (140-95) and a non-conference victory at Washington (148-140). Azevedo won the 100 butterfly against both schools as he recorded times of 49.04 and 48.48 vs. the Horned Frogs and Huskies, respectively. He also touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke (50.03) against Washington. In the final event of the meet vs. the Huskies, Azevedo swam the fastest leg for the Cougar 400 freestyle relay team, bringing home the narrow dual meet win for BYU.

Hesselberg posted three wins on the weekend against No. 23 BYU and Utah. Against BYU, he won the 3-meter event with a score of 344.10, which was 65 points higher than the next closest competitor. He also posted a third-place finish in the 1-meter event (246.52). Two days later he swept both diving events at Utah. Hesselberg took the top spot in the 1-meter with a score of 276.22, and won the 3-meter by over 56 points with a score of 311.40.

Grant, a Walnut, Calif., native, brought home victories in all three individual events she swam, as well as contributed to two first-place relay teams in the Cougars' conference dual-meet wins over TCU (126-100) and San Diego State (136-96) last week. Against the Horned Frogs, she recorded a time of 10:18.46 in the 1,000 freestyle, which was 30 seconds faster than the rest of the field. Against SDSU, Grant was victorious in the 200 butterfly (2:04.83) and the 500 freestyle (5:10.80), while helping the 200 medley relay squad to a first-place finish (1:48.83).

Jones won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events vs. TCU and San Diego State. She recorded point totals of 291.60 and 279.98 in the 1-meter and 3-meter boards, respectively, vs. the Horned Frogs, while posting a score of 327.30 in the 3-meter and 283.50 in the 1-meter vs. the Aztecs.
