PROVO -- The men's and women's swimming and diving teams had 31 student-athletes earn BYU Student Athlete Academic Center Scholar Athlete recognition in 2006.
A total of 19 athletes from the women's team were honored along with 12 members of the men's team. In order to receive the honor, student-athletes were required to earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher within the 2006 calendar year.
Among those representing the women's team were 2007 Mountain West Conference Senior Swimmer of the Year Brittany Burk and fellow all-conference performers Tawni Jones, Natasha Menezes, Angela Nelson, Tara Patience and Emily Woods. Additional honorees from the women's team were Tricia Bowen, U-Nice Chan, Kimberly Chang, Kimberly Clark, Whitney Dimick, Whitney Jones, Rebecca Larson, Janelle Lasko, Elise Livengood, Holly Malmrose, Megan McGhie, Lauren Pack and Nicole Przybyla.
In addition to earning All-MWC awards in the pool, Zach Anderson, Kenny Clark, Chad Fong, Jacoby Jacobson, Chris Patience, Travis Price and Jeffrey Su also represented the men's team with their excellence in the classroom. Other members of the men's team to earn scholar-athlete recognition were Mark Chay, Travis Day, Blake Henderson, David Larson and Nicholas Tobler.
In all, 226 student-athletes representing each of BYU's 21 teams achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher in 2006.
