BYU Men Finish Eighth At NCAA Championships

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The BYU men’s track team wrapped up the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with an eighth place finish and 27.50 total points.

“It was an outstanding meet for us,” head coach Mark Robison. “That is probably one of our best performances at Nationals. It is tough to score points so I’m pretty happy with it.”

Junior Miles Batty finished in seventh place in the 1,500-meter finals in a time of 3:45.07. With the seventh-place finish, Batty earned First-Team All-America honors and picked up two points.

BYU finished at Nationals with a total of 27.50 points, and multiple All-Americans in Batty (1,500-meter), senior Leif Arrhenius (Shot put, Discus), senior Chris Little (Pole Vault) and sophomore Victor Weirich (Pole Vault.) The Cougars also had three more athletes compete, including junior Justin Hedin (800-meter), sophomore Jacob Cosby (3,000-meter steeplechase) and senior Tanner Emrich (Pole vault).
