Cougars Lead MWC with 52 Academic Honorees

PROVO -- The Mountain West Conference named 52 BYU athletes to the 2001 Academic All-Conference team for men's and women's track and field. The Cougars have the most athletes named to this year's team. Seventeen of the BYU athletes named to this year's academic all-conference team are repeat selections to the team.

A total of 207 student-athletes, 127 women and 80 men, received academic honors for the conference. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor to the team.
