Walker ends run at World Juniors

BARCELONA, Spain -- Shaquille Walker's run at the 2012 IAAF World Junior Championships came to an end on Saturday in the semifinals of the 800 meters.

Walker clocked a time of 1:51.43 and took seventh in his heat. The top two in each heat plus the two next best times advanced to Sunday's final.

The freshman from Richmond Hill, Ga., advanced to the semifinals after posting a time of 1:49.55 in the preliminary round on Friday. During the 2012 track season Walker was a member of BYU's record-setting and MPSF champion distance medley relay team and earned second-team All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 4x400 relay. Walker qualified for the World Junior Championships after winning the 800 meters at the USA Junior Championships.
