PROVO -- The BYU men's volleyball team was named the No. 1 team in the country when the USA Today/CSTV Top 15 Division I/II Men's Coaches poll was released Tuesday. The Cougars were ranked No. 1 in the nation the last 10 weeks of the 2004 season.

BYU, which won its third National Championship in six years in 2004, has started the season at 3-0 after defeating Lewis, Penn State, and Hawai'i at the Outrigger Tournament. The perfect start has extended the team's overall win streak to 10, after winning the last seven matches in 2004.

The Cougars received 11 of the possible 16 first-place votes and totaled 233 overall. UCLA received the other five possible first-place votes and 229 overall.
