PROVO -- The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its 2008 AVCA Division I-II Men's Volleyball All-America Teams Monday, and BYU seniors Russell Holmes and Ivan Perez were each awarded their third All-America honor in a row.
Holmes, a middle blocker from Fountain Valley, Calif., was recognized as First-Team All-America for the first time after earning Second-Team All-America accolades in 2006 and 2007. He was among the nation's best in both attack percentage and blocking average and was named to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation First Team at the end of regular-season play.
Perez is an outside hitter from Mayguez, Puerto Rico who earned Second-Team All-America honors after receiving First-Team recognition in 2007 and Second-Team recognition in 2005. He was among national statistical leaders in points per game, kills, and digs. Perez was named to the All-MPSF First Team along with Holmes and was also named to the 2008 MPSF All-Tournament Team.
