NCAA's No. 1 Seed Earns Top National Ranking

PROVO -- Sitting at No. 3 for 11 weeks during the season, the BYU men's volleyball team was today selected as the top-ranked team in the nation according to the USAToday/AVCA Coaches Top-15 poll.

After recording victories over No. 2 Hawaii (3-0) on Thursday, and a 3-2, come-from-behind win at Pepperdine on Saturday, the Cougars claimed the 2003 MPSF Tournament championship and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA National Championships in Long Beach this weekend.

The Cougars (22-6) will take on Penn State (26-5) in the second semi-final game of the NCAA tournament, beginning at 8 p.m. (PDT) on Thursday, May 1 at the Pyramid in Long Beach, Calif.
