BYU loses in five set thriller to Washington

PROVO, Utah – The No.10 BYU women’s volleyball team lost its first match of the season in a five set thriller (25-18, 22-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-10) against No. 5 Washington at the Smith Fieldhouse Saturday night.

“We’ve got to be better,” head coach Shawn Olmstead said. “We’re back at it at noon tomorrow, so we’ve got to just be ready to go. We’ll get better from here. We’ve got a lot of information and we’ll be able to get better.”

Utah penalty kick downs Cougars 1-0

SALT LAKE CITY -- A year after winning on a late penalty kick, BYU women's soccer had the favor returned by Utah on Friday at Ute Field. Katie Taylor scored on an 84th minute penalty kick to give the Utes a 1-0 win.

"Our first half we did a fantastic job of creating opportunities and playing really well," BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood said. "But we need to be more physical, battle harder and find more ways to win."

BYU's season begins at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic

PROVO, Utah – The BYU women’s golf team is ready to kick off its 2014-2015 season this Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 8-9 at the 2014 Hobble Creek Fall Classic in Springville.

BYU is one of 12 teams competing in the invitational, along with 20 individuals. Utah Valley, Southern Utah and Weber State are among the teams participating in this two-day tournament. Cougar fans will be able to watch their team play locally, the only time this season fans will get this opportunity.

Cross country starts season at Utah Open

PROVO, Utah—BYU cross country gets underway Friday as the men’s and women’s teams head to Murray City Park in Salt Lake City for the Utah Open. The meet will feature teams from Utah and Idaho.

Last year, the men’s team won the West Coast Conference title and finished fourth nationally. The Cougars look to build on their success despite losing three of their top four finishers from last year’s NCAA Championships.

ESPN networks to televise 13 BYU games in 2014-15

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – As part of their long-term relationship, the West Coast Conference has announced that a minimum of 44 men's basketball games involving WCC schools will air nationally on ESPN networks this season, including additional exposure during the 2015 West Coast Conference Basketball Championship in Las Vegas.
