Cougars compete in U.S. Olympic Team Trials over the weekend

EUGENE, Oregon – Former Cougars Shaquille Walker and Rena Chesser and current junior Shea Collinsworth competed over the weekend in the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials held in Eugene, Oregon.

Bravo to play with Team Mexico for third year

For the third year in a row, Gordy Bravo will play for the Mexican National Team this summer, playing in two tournaments in July.

From July 5-10, Bravo and Team Mexico will participate in the U.S. World Cup of Softball XI in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mexico will face off against China, USA, Japan, Czech Republic, Canada and New Zealand.

Taysom Hill named to 2016 Maxwell Award watch list

PHILADELPHIA - BYU senior quarterback Taysom Hill was named to the watch list for the 80th annual Maxwell Award by the Maxwell Football Club on Tuesday.

The Maxwell Award, named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell, has been given to America's College Player of the Year since 1937. Maxwell's contributions to the game of football were extensive, including time as a player, a sportswriter and an official.

Sorenson advanced to semifinals, but not finals of 50 free

OMAHA, Nebraska (July 1, 2016)-All-American Payton Sorenson of BYU swim and dive just missed advancing Friday to the finals in the 50 freestyle at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

The sophomore from Arizona won his heat in the morning preliminaries with a time of 22.29 which placed him 10th in qualifying for the evening semifinals where he clocked a 22.37 for 13th place. The top eight eight swimmers advance to Friday's finals.

OMAHA, Nebraska (June 30, 2016) – For the second time in as many days Jake Taylor of BYU swim and dive advanced to the semifinals of the backstroke at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

However, this time the five-time Cougar All-American did not qualify for the finals as he finished 11th in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.83 on Thursday evening.
