2013 season ends with sweep of regional awards

The BYU men’s tennis team finished another successful season that included a first place finish in the Mountain Region as announced by the ITA today.

Season concludes at NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – The 2013 season came to an end for BYU women’s track and field on Wednesday as Natalie Stewart and Kelsey Brown competed in the NCAA Championships.

Stewart, a senior from Spanish Fork, Utah, ran in the 400-meter preliminary and took eighth in her heat with a time of 53.84. The top two from each heat plus the next best two overall advanced to the final.

Weirich finishes fifth in the pole vault, Carr advances

EUGENE, Ore. – Despite not having his personal set of poles, BYU senior Victor Weirich set a lifetime best in the pole vault and finished fifth at the NCAA Track and Field Championships. Weirich's fifth-place finish scored four points for the Cougars toward the team standings.

Hannemann named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American

Outfielder Jacob Hannemann of BYU has been named to the 2013 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team, selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Hannemann joins left-handed pitcher P.J. Conlon of San Diego as the only representatives of the West Coast Conference on the team.

Van Noy, Hoffman named to Phil Steele 2013 Preseason All-America Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio – BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy and wide receiver Cody Hoffman were both selected to Phil Steele’s 2013 Preseason All-America Team released Wednesday. Van Noy is a first-team selection while Hoffman earned second-team honors.

PROVO, Utah - BYU men’s track and field will send five athletes to compete at the 2013 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week in Eugene, Ore. The meet will be held at Oregon’s Hayward Field and begins Wednesday, June 5, and runs through Saturday, June 8.

ESPN announces television plans for BYU-Texas game

PROVO, Utah (June 4, 2013) — ESPN and BYU today announced the Cougars’ 2013 home opener against the University of Texas on Sept. 7 will be televised nationally on ESPN2 in a 5 p.m. MT (7 p.m. ET) kickoff from LaVell Edwards Stadium. BYU also announced its home game against Idaho State on Nov. 16 will start at 1 p.m. MT (3 p.m. ET) and be televised nationally on BYUtv.

Haws invited to USA World University Games training camp roster

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. – BYU junior guard Tyler Haws has been named to the roster for the 2013 USA Basketball Men’s World University Games Team training camp, which will take place June 24-30 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team Committee issued the invitations.
