SAN FRANCISCO – Five players scored in double figures to lead the BYU men’s basketball team to its first conference road win in an 83-76 victory against San Francisco on Thursday in War Memorial Gymnasium.

BYU Athletics hosts students for Sports Hero Day

PROVO, Utah- BYU athletes welcomed over a thousand students from 12 different elementary schools Thursday for the annual Sports Hero Day.

The students rotated through a variety of stations hosted by different athletic teams including football, track and field, soccer and volleyball, among others. Each station had an activity that was led by athletes from the respective sport, giving the students a chance to interact with their BYU sports heroes.

INDIANAPOLIS – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has launched the NCAA 6th Fan contest, an exciting nationwide online competition that will determine which Division I school has the most school pride and supportive fans. Cougar fans can learn all the details  at www.ncaa.com/6thfan, including how to win great fan prizes and how to help BYU be awarded over $100,000 in general scholarship contributions.

"Eric is feeling better. He practiced a little bit yesteday and today he was in practice full time, so unless he has a setback tonight, we anticipate a good practice tomorrow and that he'll play on Thursday. That's what we're hoping."

PROVO, Utah—After taking down the top team in the nation Saturday, No. 8 BYU men’s volleyball hits the road for matches against UC Irvine Friday and UC San Diego Saturday in California.

Friday’s 7 p.m. PST match at UC Irvine (3-2, 0-1 MPSF) will be BYU’s first time meeting the Anteaters since the 2013 NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship title match, when the Cougars (2-2, 2-0 MPSF) lost 3-0.

Haws named Lou Henson

BOSTON, Mass. – BYU junior guard Tyler Haws has been named the Lou Henson Award National Player of the Week.

The 6-foot-5 junior averaged 33.0 points in two wins last week. On Thursday, Jan. 9, Haws scored 35 points in a win over Pepperdine. Two days later the Utah native had 31 points, including 24 in the second half, in the Cougars' win over Loyola Marymount.

The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the top Mid-Major player in Division I college basketball.
