Broderick and Almond power Cougars to series victory

SAN DIEGO – Sydney Broderick powered BYU softball’s offense to a sweep of San Diego in Saturday's doubleheader, winning the first game 2-1 before taking a come-from-behind 4-3 victory in the second game.

OREM, Utah — Too big of a deficit could not be overcome Saturday afternoon as Pacific defeated host BYU baseball, 11-7, at Brent Brown Ballpark.

The University of the Pacific (14-19 overall and 5-7 in the West Coast Conference) amassed a 9-0 lead by the third inning over BYU (12-21, 4-8) before the Cougars started to claw back.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Despite rain delays, BYU men’s tennis stormed back for the 5-2 win over San Francisco on captain Francis Sargeant’s match-clincher, Friday.
 
The Cougars (8-12) came back from a 2-0 deficit as they improved to 2-3 in West Coast Conference play.
 
"This team showed some character and resilience today," BYU head coach Brad Pearce said.

PROVO, Utah – An all-around team effort with efficient hitting and strong pitching led BYU baseball to a 9-3 victory over Pacific in the second game of the West Coast Conference series, Friday at Larry H. Miller Field.

With the win the Cougars (12-20, 4-7 WCC) moved up into sixth place in the conference standings with the Tigers (13-19, 4-7 WCC), but have the tiebreaker advantage in the series.

BYU wraps up spring practice with Alumni Day

PROVO, Utah - The BYU football team wrapped up 2014 spring football on Friday as it welcomed former football players to campus for its annual Alumi Day.

"The alumni, similar to the recruits that come in, they're the lifeblood. The alumni remain and they're the sustaining force (of the program)," BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall said.

PROVO, Utah—Pitcher Desmond Poulson held Pacific hitless until the seventh inning, leading BYU baseball to a 10-1 victory against the Tigers at Larry H. Miller Field Thursday.

Women's volleyball receives Y Awards

PROVO, Utah – BYU women’s volleyball celebrated its 2013 season at the 11th annual Y Awards ceremony Wednesday night at the Marriott Center.

The women’s team was honored with two awards, Walk-on of the Year (Tia Withers Welling) and Female Crowd Pleaser (Tambre Haddock).
