PROVO, Utah—Junior opposite hitter Jennifer Hamson received her second West Coast Conference Player of the Week award this season for her performance in the BYU Nike Invitational.

Stephenson receives special teams honors

Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson, Notre Dame cornerback Bennett Jackson and BYU punter/kicker Riley Stephenson have been named FBS Independent Players of the Week, for games played through September 8th.  Golson is recognized on Offense, Jackson gets the nod on Defense, while Stephenson is cited on Special Teams.  Stephenson wins the weekly honor for a second time; Golson and Jackson are first-time honorees.

PROVO, Utah- The BYU women’s volleyball team won its third tournament of the season beating Portland State 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 28-26). The Cougars extended their best start since 2005, improving to 9-0.

Portland State falls to 4-6 on the season.
