Alani Fua receives FBS Independent defensive honors

FOOTBALL BOWL SUBDIVISION INDEPENDENT PLAYERS OF THE WEEK NAMED

Army running back Terry Baggett, BYU linebacker Alani Fua and Idaho punter/placekicker Austin Rehkow have been named FBS Independent Players of the Week, for games played through Saturday, Oct. 12.  Baggett is cited on Offense, Fua is honored on Defense, and Rehkow is recognized on Special Teams.  The commendations are the second of the season and career for all three players.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (Oct. 12,2013– After two days of competition, Brigham Young University dominated their opponents to earn a huge win Saturday in the Intermountain Shootout hosted by Colorado Mesa University. 

The Cougars also won in their dual meets against Colorado Mesa, Air Force and Colorado State.

The BYU men beat Colorado Mesa with a score of 266-95 and Air Force with a score of 212.5-138.5. The Cougar women beat Colorado Mesa with a score of 280-82 and Colorado State with a score of 192-176.

No. 18 Broncos drop No. 22 Cougars

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - An 83rd minute goal beat the No. 22 BYU women's soccer team against No. 18 Santa Clara on Saturday at Buck Shaw Stadium.
 
The loss is BYU's (7-4-1, 1-1-0) first in conference play this season and first West Coast Conference loss since Oct. 29, 2011.
 
"We really battled hard," BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood said.

PROVO, Utah – Junior Tambre Haddock earned her 12th double-double of the season to help the No. 24 BYU women’s volleyball team secure its 3-0 (29-27, 25-15, 25-15) sweep over San Francisco Saturday afternoon.
