Batty, 4x400m relay team qualify

AUSTIN, Texas – Miles Batty and the men's 4x400 meter relay team qualified for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships on Saturday, the final day of the West Preliminary Round.

Batty finished second in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 3:45.88. The 4x400 meter relay team posted the second-best time in school history at 3:06.21 while finishing eighth overall.

PROVO, Utah—After giving up 10 runs in the third inning, BYU baseball couldn’t recover and suffered a 17-1 season-ending loss to Gonzaga Saturday at Larry H. Miller Field.

“Today was not the kind of day we wanted to go out for our seniors,” head coach Vance Law said. “We wanted to have good days and go out with a win. Unfortunately this wasn’t a good indication of the young men and players we have on this team. This season was one of those strange years where if something could go wrong it did.”

Four more Cougars qualify for Nationals

AUSTIN, Texas – On day two of the NCAA Track and Field West Preliminary Round, four members of the BYU men’s and women’s track teams advanced to Nationals. Four members of the men's team and three from the women's team have now qualified for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.

Ryan Waite claimed his spot at Nationals by finishing 11th in the 800 meters with a time of 1:48.80. Chris Carter finished seventh in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 50.38 to qualify.

Gonzaga tops BYU 13-1

PROVO, Utah - The Gonzaga Bulldogs used a stellar pitching effort and two big innings to take down the BYU baseball team 13-1 on Friday at Miller Park.
 
Gonzaga’s starting pitcher Marco Gonzales was dominant on the mound for the Zags (33-22, 13-10). Gonzales went eight scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and striking out 12 Cougars (22-26, 10-13) for the win.

Three Cougars Qualify for Nationals

AUSTIN, Texas – On day one of the NCAA West Preliminary Round three members of the BYU men’s and women’s track teams advanced to Nationals while eight others advanced to the quarterfinal rounds on Friday and Saturday.

Marshall, Whitney lead Cougars to victory

PROVO, Utah—Mason Marshall and Brock Whitney combined forces in the eighth inning to lead BYU baseball to a 6-4 upset of Gonzaga 6-4 Thursday at Larry H. Miller Field.

Marshall picked up the win in relief for a 2-1 record, only allowing two hits and striking out one in two innings. Whitney led the team with two RBIs, including the game-winning triple, on two hits. Whitney leads the team in game-winning RBIs with eight.
