WCC Baseball Debut in Provo

Game time has changed to noon for Saturday’s BYU-Loyola Marymount series, but Thursday and Friday night’s contests remain at 6 p.m.

The three-game series is the debut for West Coast Conference baseball action in Provo. BYU (12-11 overall and 4-2 WCC) hosts league-leading LMU (12-12, 3-0).

Due to tight travel plans game time was moved up one hour for Saturday.  The Lions were picked to finish fourth in the WCC pre-season poll, while BYU balloted seventh.

PROVO, Utah – This week the BYU men’s and women’s track and field teams will host their first outdoor meet of the season against Pac-12 powerhouse University of Southern California and Boise State at the Clarence F. Robison Track and Field Complex on Saturday, April 7.

The BYU women broke into the USTFCCCA top-25 this week, at No. 24, and the men hang just outside the top-25 with their current ranking of 26. BYU will face tough competition as USC enters the meet with their men ranked eighth nationally and their women ranked fourth.

Winning Baseball's Deseret Duel

SALT LAKE CITY— Batting around produced a five-run ninth inning en route to a 9-6 defeat Tuesday over rival Utah as BYU baseball won its portion of the Deseret Duel.

The three points earned from baseball in the Deseret Duel gives BYU the overall title by a score of 31-16.  Those ninth-inning runs were the difference in the second of three baseball games between BYU and Utah at Spring Mobile Ballpark before 1,215 fans.

Cougars Extend Win Streak to 29 Games

Senior Tiffany Messerschmidt went 6 for 7 in two games against Southern Utah.

PROVO, Utah — Extending its home win streak to 29 games, the BYU softball team took two against Southern Utah, winning 8-0 and 6-4 on Tuesday at Gail Miller Field.

Junior pitcher Hannah Howell recorded the win in game one and the save in game two. The save was the seventh in her career, tying Paige Affleck for most in a career at BYU.
