PROVO, Utah – The BYU women’s basketball team posted a convincing victory as it defeated the No. 18/19 Gonzaga Bulldogs, 70-40, on Thursday night in front of an energetic Marriott Center crowd.

BYU (22-4, 10-2) is now tied with Gonzaga (21-4, 10-2) for first place in West Coast Conference standings.

BYU Bashed by Beavers

Senior Jessica Dugas had two hits for the Cougars.

TEMPE, Ariz. - The BYU softball team gave up 16 runs in the second inning of its season opener on its way to dropping a 22-5 decision to Oregon State on Thursday in the Kajikawa Classic.

The Beavers' 22 runs were the most ever scored by a BYU opponent and the most since Penn State defeated the Cougars, 17-4, in 2007.

PROVO (February 10, 2012) --League newcomer BYU was picked to finish seventh in the West Coast Conference Preseason Baseball Poll.

The Cougars, who begin their season next week, balloted 28 votes from the WCC coaches, well behind leaders San Diego with 59, Gonzaga 57 and San Francisco at 51, each of whom received first place votes.  Loyola Marymount was fifth at 37, followed by Pepperdine and Saint Mary’s at 30, BYU 28, Portland 23 and Santa Clara with nine votes.

Reynolds, Fangupo invited to NFL Scouting Combine

Offensive lineman Matt Reynolds and defensive lineman Hebron Fangupo have been invited to the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine held Feb. 22-28 in Indianapolis.

Over 300 players were invited to the combine and all 32 NFL teams will be represented by coaches and scouts to evaluate potential draft picks. In 2011, BYU did not have any players invited to the combine but had three in both 2010 and 2009.

After putting together an impressive sophomore campaign, wide receiver Cody Hoffman was recently recognized as No. 2 on's list of top five potential breakout players at the wide receiver position for the 2012 season.
