The BYU football team held a fireside for nearly 1,700 members of the Boise area Wednesday night, with video being streamed to 12 other buildings in the area.

Those in attendance heard spritual messages from receivers and brothers Marcus and Mitch Mathews. Marcus spoke about gaining the proper perspective on life and set the tone for the meeting. His brother Mitch spoke about battling through ups and downs and bore testimony of the Savior.

Thursday marks 50 days until tipoff

This Thursday marks 50 days until BYU basketball opens the 2012-13 season at home against Tennessee State at 7 p.m. MT in the Marriott Center.

To celebrate, BYU athletics will hide 50 blue and white BYU basketballs throughout Utah, Wasatch and Salt Lake counties for fans to find on Thursday. Clues to the location of the basketballs will be posted on beginning at 9 a.m. MT on Thursday.

Hero Ride Update

Day 1 of the Hero Ride for the Holly & Bronco Mendenhall Foundation kicked off yesterday with 87 riders congregating at the football team's practice field and making the first leg of the trip to LaVell Edwards Stadium. 

Nearly every single rider made the trip to LaVell Edwards Stadium before the more experienced riders continued on to complete the first day of the ride in Brigham City, Utah. Click here to see a map of the first day.

On the road at Utah State and Oregon

PROVO, Utah - The No.12/7 BYU women's soccer team, after six-straight games at home, will head out on the road this week for games at Utah State on Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. MDT and Oregon on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. PDT.

The Cougars are traveling with six-straight wins, all at home, and an 8-1 record. Jaiden Thornock and Michele Murphy lead the team with five goals apiece. Six other players have netted at least one goal and seven players have recorded double-digit shots. 

No. 16 Cougars start league play vs. No. 14 Pepperdine

PROVO, Utah—The No. 16 BYU women’s volleyball team welcomes its first two conference opponents of the season to Elaine Michaelis Court, starting with No. 14 Pepperdine Thursday and Gonzaga Saturday.

Both matches will air on BYUtv, with the Pepperdine match beginning at 7 p.m. and the Gonzaga match beginning at 1 p.m. on their respective days.

BYU, now 12-0 on the season in its best start since 2005, is coming off four-straight tournament wins.

Cutshall selected as candidate for Senior CLASS Award

OVERLAND PARK, Kas. - Senior Lindsi Lisonbee Cutshall of the BYU women's soccer team has been chosen as one of 30 NCAA women's soccer athletes to be a candidate for the 2012 Senior CLASS Award. Cutshall is the only candidate to represent the West Coast Conference.
