No. 51 BYU women’s tennis wins fourth straight

LOS ANGELES -- Sophomore Nicolette Tran delivered in doubles and singles, helping No. 51 BYU women’s tennis to its fourth straight victory in a 5-2 win over Loyola Marymount Friday.
“The girls fought hard today,” BYU head coach Lauren Jones-Spencer said.

Palmer strong in NCAA Championships

AUSTIN, Texas – Concluding the 2013-2014 BYU swimming and diving season, junior Hayden Palmer represented BYU at the 2014 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships Friday afternoon.

“The atmosphere here (at NCAA championships) is awesome,” Palmer said. “It’s fun to race against people who push you to go faster. What better place to go faster than the NCAAs?”

Haws named a finalist for the 2014 Lou Henson Award

BOSTON – has named BYU junior guard Tyler Haws a finalist for the 2014 Lou Henson Award.

The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the top Mid-Major player in Division I college basketball. The award is named in honor of Lou Henson who retired after a spectacular coaching career that lasted 41 years. All finalists have also been named to the 2013-14 Lou Henson All-America team.

Dalton takes first in decathlon at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas -- BYU's Chase Dalton took first in the decathlon at the prestigious Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, beating three former multi-event national champions and posting a qualifying mark for nationals.

MORAGA, Calif.—League-leading Saint Mary’s remains undefeated in the West Coast Conference baseball as it beat BYU Thursday, 10-3.

Every starter collected at least one of 16 hits for the Gaels (12-12 overall and 4-0 in the WCC), while the Cougars (9-18, 1-6) sputtered throughout the game.

BYU senior Desmond Poulson, who threw 112 pitches in six innings, turned a 1-2-3 double play to end the fifth inning and threw one of two Gaels out at the plate in the sixth inning.

BYU's student section, The ROC, is creating a board for the 2014-15 season and is looking for a few energetic and creative students to get involved.

The ROC is an official club on campus with ties to BYUSA and the BYU Athletic Department. Currently led by student employees of BYU Athletic Marketing, the ROC is shifting to volunteer student leaders, giving everyone on campus a chance to have a voice in the affairs of the student section.

Palmer reaches men's NCAA swimming championships

PROVO, Utah – Reaching his goal of qualifying for the NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships, junior Hayden Palmer will represent BYU in the 400-yard individual medley in Austin, Texas.

“I’m more excited just to swim there and see what I can do,” Palmer said. “A lot of swimmers who are going have already tapered and had a long rest from the end of the season, so I’ll have a big advantage.”
