Hannemann named WCC Player of Week, next up Utah

BYU freshman Jacob Hannemann is the Rawlings West Coast Conference Player of the Week after helping the Cougars win their conference series over Santa Clara.

Hannemann finished the week 8 for 18 for a .444 average with two home runs, two doubles, one triple, six RBI and four runs scored. Hannemann's slugging percentage was 1.000 and he had an on-base percentage of .500 for the week.

BYU-Washington St. baseball game cancelled

Due to heavy rain, the BYU-Washington State game Monday was cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

BYU, 17-14 overall, will next play Tuesday at 6 p.m. MDT, against Utah (14-14) in a game at Larry H. Miller Field that will be broadcast live over KOVO Radio 960 AM.

No. 1 BYU falls in road match to No. 3 UCLA

LOS ANGELES – The No. 1 BYU men’s volleyball team dropped a three-set match to No. 3 UCLA (25-23, 25-19, 25-20) on the road Saturday.

The loss snapped a 12 match win streak dating back to Feb. 16. The Cougars, who have already clinched the MPSF regular season title, move to 20-4 overall and 19-3 in the MPSF. UCLA improves to 18-10 overall and 14-8 in conference.

Sweeping Santa Clara, 5-2

SANTA CLARA, Calif. —Juniors Bret Lopez and Derek Speigner ignited BYU baseball Saturday to a come-from-behind 5-2 victory and three-game sweep over Santa Clara.

The duo helped BYU improve its record to 17-14 overall and 5-4 in the West Coast Conference, while Santa Clara fell to 8-21 and 0-9 in conference.

BYU's spring football practices came to a close on Friday with the team's annual Alumni Day. Nearly 1,000 people participated as former players and their family members came back to campus to spend time with the current team.

BYU snaps Boise State's 28-home match win streak

Freshman Andrey Goryachkov clinched the win for BYU with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at the No. 6 singles position.

BOISE, Idaho - In the USTA's hand-picked College MatchDay, the No. 41 BYU men's tennis team topped the No. 45 Boise State Broncos on Saturday at the Boas Tennis Center.

BYU's (16-4) victory over Boise State (12-9) ends the Broncos' 28-match home win streak. The Cougars improve to 7-2 against ranked teams this year and 33-0 in the mountain region over the last four years. 

Cougars clinch MPSF regular season title on road

ISLA VISTA, Calif. – Clinching the MPSF regular season title, the No. 1 BYU men’s volleyball team topped No. 7 UC Santa Baraba in five sets (20-25, 25-20, 18-25, 25-21, 15-13) Friday.

The win extends BYU’s (20-3, 18-2 MPSF) win streak to 12 matches.

Hitters, pitchers shut down Santa Clara, 8-2

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (April 5, 2013)—All but one Cougar collected 14 hits Friday in an 8-2 BYU baseball victory over Santa Clara for the second day in a row.

BYU (16-14 overall) evened its record to 4-4 in the West Coast Conference as pitchers Adam Miller and Matt Milke combined to down Santa Clara (8-20, 0-8).

Davies leads East to win in Reese's All-Star Game

ATLANTA, Ga. – BYU senior Brandon Davies totaled 12 points, nine rebounds and four assists to lead the East All-Stars to an 87-81 win over the West in the 2013 Reese’s Division I College All-Star Game at The Georgia Dome.
