EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – With the start of the highly-anticipated 2012-13 basketball season less than two weeks away, BYU has been selected to finish second in the West Coast Conference regular season in a preseason poll of the WCC’s nine head coaches. The Cougars received one first place vote and 55 of 64 possible points in the poll. The poll and all-conference team were announced Monday at Time Warner Cable Sports studios as part of the Second Annual West Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Tip-Off event, streamed live on YouTube.

Cougars collect another sweep

PORTLAND, Ore.—Senior middle blocker Nicole Warner led the No. 18 BYU women’s volleyball team to its second sweep in a row Saturday, defeating Portland 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-19).

BYU moves to 21-2 overall and 9-2 in West Coast Conference play. Portland is 6-19 and 0-10 in league play.

With three more rushing touchdowns today and a receiving touchdown, 17-year old running back Jamaal Williams was the first Cougar to score four touchdowns in a game since wide receiver Luke Ashworth scored four against Colorado State in 2010. His eight rushing touchdowns lead the team and are third most among FBS freshman running backs.
