Cougars Host MPSF Quarterfinal on Saturday

PROVO - The BYU men's volleyball team earned itself a 3-seed in the upcoming MPSF Tournament and will host 6-seed Long Beach State this Saturday, April 21, at 7 p.m. MT in the Fieldhouse. The match will be broadcast live on BYUtv and online for free at byutvsports.com/gameday.

After a three-way tiebreaker, BYU's 17-5 league record put them at third in the conference standings and afforded them the opportunity to host a first-round match in the conference tournament.

Volleyball Nets Senior-Night Sweep

PROVO, Utah—Taylor Sander’s hard hitting helped the BYU men’s volleyball team earn its senior-night sweep of No. 7 Penn State, Saturday, sending the Nittany Lions back home with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-17) defeat.

PROVO, Utah - Down one run in the bottom of the seventh and final inning, the BYU softball team hit two clutch home runs to beat Utah State 6-4 and complete a three-game sweep Saturday at Gail Miller Field.

LOS ANGELES – Freshman Lexi Eaton continued her improvement in the high jump at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational to pace the BYU women’s track and field team on Saturday.

Seattle Ends BYU's Four-Game Win Streak

SEATTLE—Seattle University ended BYU baseball’s four-game winning streak Saturday afternoon at Bannerwood Park with a 5-2 victory.

The Redhawks (16-15) handcuffed BYU (17-13), limiting the Cougars to four hits, singles in the second, fourth and ninth innings. SU lefty Garrett Anderson and reliever Jake Chutney combined for eight shutout innings.

“He (Anderson) pitched well, but we could have gotten to him,” BYU coach Vance Law said. “We waited way too long to get things going.”

Poulson Blanks Seattle

Tacoma, Wash.—Sophomore Desmond Poulson fired the salvos on Military Night to lead BYU baseball to a 4-1 victory over Seattle University at the AAA Raniers’ Cheney Stadium.

The Redhawks (15-15) dressed in camouflage tops, but were blanked by Poulson who was set to account for the first BYU shutout since beating New Mexico 1-0 last season.  Seattle got its unearned run in the ninth inning off BYU ace reliever Mason Marshall.

#4 BYU Defeats #7 Penn State at Home

PROVO, Utah – After dropping the first set, the No. 4 BYU men’s volleyball team came back to win the next three sets (20-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-18) to top No. 7 Penn State in front of a home crowd.

The Cougars (22-6) win snapped the Lions (20-4) seven-match win streak.
