Alisa, Williams named 2013 Doak Walker Award candidates

PROVO, Utah – The PwC SMU Athletic Forum today announced the preseason candidates for the 2013 Doak Walker Award, naming BYU running backs Michael Alisa and Jamaal Williams among 63 players on the list. The award is presented annually to the nation’s top college running back.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced today the matchups for the championship round of the 2013 CBE Hall of Fame Classic.  All four games of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic at Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo., will be televised live on ESPN networks.

PROVO, Utah – BYU senior wide receiver Cody Hoffman has been named to the 2013 Biletnikoff Award preseason watch list released Tuesday by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., the Florida-based creator and sponsor of the Biletnikoff Award, which recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football.

ESPNU, available in more than 73 million homes, will televise the first-ever meeting between the Cougars and Blue Raiders of Conference USA in the primetime Friday night matchup at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

PROVO, Utah (July 15, 2013) - BYU All-American linebacker Kyle Van Noy has been named to the preliminary watch list for the 2013 Rotary Lombardi Award.

Release today by the Rotary Lombardi Award Committee, the award candidates earned a place on the preliminary watch list by earning All-American honors, being named to their respective all-conference teams or receiving 2013 preseason honors.

Haws and Team USA defeat Norway

KAZAN, Russia – Tyler Haws had his best game in the red, white and blue as the USA World University Games Team defeated Norway 91-51 on Sunday at Miras Sports Complex.

Haws posted a personal-best nine points while hitting 3 of 6 from the field and 3 of 5 from the free throw line. He also added three rebounds and one steal in 15 minutes of playing time.

Team USA led by just two at the end of the first quarter but out-scored Norway 26-10 in the second to lead 43-25 at the half.
