BYU Retains Lead in WCC Commissioner's Cup

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – After the conclusion of the 2012 West Coast Conference golf championships, WCC newcomer Brigham Young University maintains its lead in the race for the 2011-12 West Coast Conference Commissioner’s Cup – awarded annually to the WCC institution garnering the most success during conference play.  After earning 12 combined points at the golf championship, the Cougars hold a four and a half point edge over the University of San Francisco, which has climbed into second place.

Howell Pitches Past Louisiana Tech

BYU pitcher Hannah Howell threw a 1-hitter against Louisiana Tech.

RUSTON, La. - Playing in her home state for the first time as a Cougar, junior pitcher Hannah Howell threw a 1-hitter in arguably the best performance of her career to lead the BYU softball team over Louisiana Tech 5-0 on Friday.

The win gave BYU head coach Gordon Eakin his 400th career win. Eakin, whose 27th wedding anniversary was also Friday, is now 400-172 (.699) in his 10-year career.

Join Bronco Mendenhall for the Gridiron Rumble

PROVO, Utah — BYU football coach Bronco Mendenhall and members of the Cougar coaching staff will participate in the Gridiron Rumble motorcycle ride on Saturday, May 19 to benefit families with significant life challenges.

Members of the community are invited to join Coach Mendenhall on the benefit ride, which begins at Timpanogos Harley-Davidson located at 555 South Geneva Road in Lindon just west of I-15 exit 273 (Lindon/Orem 1600 North).

ARLINGTON – Five individuals who helped shape the tradition of the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic and college football history were inducted Thursday into the AT&T Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame during enshrinement ceremonies at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

Wichita, Kan. (NCBWA) --- Freshman Mason Marshall of BYU is among 45 players have been named to the midseason watch list for the eighth annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball, as announced by the association Thursday.

Eakin Looks for Win No. 400 at Louisiana Tech

PROVO, Utah - Riding a four-game win streak in Western Athletic Conference play, the BYU softball team travels to Louisiana Tech for a three-game series this weekend.

BYU (28-12, 7-3 WAC) sits third in the conference standings while Lousiana Tech (18-23, 5-6) is sixth of eight teams after losing three games to No. 14 Hawai'i a week ago.
