BYU to face San Diego State in Poinsettia Bowl

PROVO, Utah — The San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl today announced BYU’s opponent for the 2012 bowl game will be San Diego State, co-champions of the Mountain West Conference. The Cougars will face the Aztecs on Dec. 20 at 5 p.m. PST at Qualcomm Stadium. The game will be televised by ESPN.

San Diego State finished 9-3 in the regular season and 7-1 in the MWC. The Aztecs are currently ranked 16th in the nation in rushing (229.17 ypg) and rank second in the MWC in rushing defense (140.25 ypg). BYU leads the all-time series with SDSU 27-7-1.

Volleyball rakes in WCC postseason awards

PROVO, Utah—The No. 12 BYU women’s volleyball team captured four individual 2012 West Coast Conference postseason awards, with Jennifer Hamson leading the way as Player of the Year, head coach Shawn Olmstead receiving Coach of the Year, Alexa Gray receiving Freshman of the Year and Nicole Warner receiving Defensive Player of the Year.

Three BYU All-America candidates honored for their play in BYU victory

PROVO, Utah (Nov. 25, 2012) — BYU senior Riley Stephenson was named National Punter of the Week and junior Cody Hoffman earned National Wide Receiver of the Week honors from College Football Performance Awards for their outstanding play in BYU's 50-14 win over New Mexico State on Saturday.

Cody Hoffman had a career day, catching 12 passes for 182 yards and a BYU single-game record with five touchdowns. His 182 receiving yards are a career best and his 12 receptions was one shy of his career best. It was his seventh 100-yard game of the year and 13th of his career.

No. 12 BYU to host first and second rounds of NCAA Tourney

PROVO, Utah – Picked as the No. 12 seed overall, the BYU women’s volleyball team will host New Mexico State, Arizona State and Oklahoma in the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament Friday and Saturday.

Lark to Hoffman leads BYU to 50-14 win

Las Cruces, N.M. - Junior Cody Hoffman grabbed a BYU-record five touchdown receptions and senior James Lark tossed six touchdown passes in first career start to help power BYU over New Mexico State, 50-14, Saturday at Aggie Memorial Stadium.

Hoffman pulled down 12 catches for a career-best 182 yards to push him to 1,134 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns on the season.

PROVO, Utah — A second-overtime goal by North Carolina knocked No. 2 BYU out of the NCAA College Cup Friday night, ending one of the Cougars’ best seasons in program history with a 2-1 loss.

BYU ends the season 20-2-2 while North Carolina advances to a 13-5-3 record and a berth in the semifinals of the tournament.
