WHAT TO EXPECT

Cougarette auditions run like a master class. You will be asked to go across the floor with several combinations where judges will be accessing your technique and abilities. Across the floor combinations will include but are not limited to: kicks, leaps (switch, grande' jetes, back, side, and tilt), and turns (you must be able to do at least a triple pirouette). If you are selected from this first part of the audition, you will be asked to stay and learn 2 dance combinations. One will be primarily jazz but may incorporate lyrical/contemporary and the other will be hip hop. The field will be narrowed down and the group of finalists will be asked to stay for an interview. We are looking for advanced level technique, ability, stage presence and someone who captures the Cougarette style. Scholarship money will go to team members only.  Scholarships are based upon Seniority and Leadership.  Each member of the Cougarettes will receive financial assistance.  First year members can expect $500-$600 for the year.

NEW THIS YEAREach Dancer who makes it to the final round of Auditions will be required to present an Advanced level turn combination of no less than 4 sets of 8 including Fouette Turns, ala seconde, other various and creative pirouettes to generic Music.  Demonstrating Dificulty and Control AND Consistency.

You will also be required to demonstrate flexibility through sitting in a flat split position, needle scale/panche's, leg hold turns, leg tilt, and tumbling skils.  You will be allowed to incorporate these skills into your turn combination.

***Each candidate desiring a position on the 2014-15 team MUST be able to do BOTH a Right and a Left Side Aerial Cartwheel.
