Ryan is in his first year as a student assistant coach for the cross country and track teams. He recently finished his eligibility with BYU cross country and track where he was a five-time All-American. Ryan holds the school record in the indoor 800 meter run and was a member of the school record holding distance medley relay. He is also number two all-time at BYU in the outdoor 800 meters, where he ran 1:46.83.
Before BYU, Ryan ran for the University of Oregon under the direction of Vin Lananna and Andy Powell, where he had the opportunity to be teammates with future Olympians Galen Rupp and Andrew Wheating.
Ryan prepped at St. Helens High School in Oregon, where he was a three-time state champion and an All-American in the 800 meters, placing third at the Nike Outdoor National meet.
Ryan is currently finishing his degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations, while minoring in business management. He and his wife Ashlynn are the proud parents of one daughter, Bria McKall.
