COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--Ã½BYU forward Ambrosia Anderson was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, marking her first career honor, Monday.
Anderson, a 6-2 senior from Colorado Springs, Colo., led the Cougars to a 71-67 road victory over Pac-10 foe UCLA and a 72-39 routing of UC Santa Barbara.Ã½ She started both games and tallied a career-high 26 points and nine rebounds against the Bruins. In the home opener against UCSB, Anderson tallied 21 points and pulled down 12 boards, marking her first double-double of the season, and seventh overall.
For her performance in the week, Anderson averaged 23.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists.Ã½ She shot 61.3 percent from the field (19-for-31) and was 6-for-10 from beyond the arc (.600).Ã½
She currently leads the team in both points and rebounds with 24.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.
