Final Four-Game Road Swing Ends in Arizona Friday

With a three-game winning streak, all road victories, the Cougar women travel to Tucson to take on PAC-10 powerhouse Arizona, Friday. Tip off is set for 7 p.m., from the McKale Center on the Wildcats home court.

BYU and Arizona have idnetical 5-2 records, with the Wildcats enjoying a 16-game home winning streak. The Cougars are currently on their own three-game winning streak with all wins coming on the road.

Three players are getting double figure scoring for Arizona with 16.9 points from Shawntinice Polk. She's also the team's leading rebounder with 7.7 boards per game. Dee-Dee Wheeler is contributing 15.9 points and 4.7 rebounds. Aimee Grzyb is at 10.4 points per game and is grabbing 2.4 rebounds per game. As a team, the Wildcats are shooting 45 percent from the field and 65 percent from the free throw line. They are averaging 71.6 per game and holding opponents to 62.1 points.

Series Record: 5-3

Last Meeting: The Cougars and Wildcats met on Nov. 18, 2000 in Tucson with the hosts getting the 76-71 victory.

Scoring leaders for the Cougars include junior forward Danielle Cheesman who's averaging 12.3 points and a team high 7.3 boards a game. Julie Sullivan and Ambrosia Anderson both coming off then bench are also contributing with double figure scoring. Sullivan is tallying 11.4 points and Anderson is getting 11.3 points per game.

Anderson suffered a first degree ankle sprain in the CS Fullerton game on Tuesday night and is questionable for the matchup with the Wildcats. Senior guard Kestlee Dooley is expected to play on Friday night. She's been nursing a dislocated shoulder she suffered in practice last week.

The Cougars are shooting 39 percent from the field and 68 percent from the free throw line. The team averages 68.3 points per game.

After this week's road swing, BYU will finally be at home to finish off the month of December with two games at the Marriott Center. Idaho State is in town on the 20th in a 1 p.m., tip off. Then on Dec. 30 instate rival Southern Utah will battle the Cougars in a 7 p.m. contest.
