Final Road Week In MWC Play For Cougar Women

The BYU women's basketball suffered a set back this week in league standings with a disappointing come from behind loss to CSU 64-72 o Saturday afternoon. With a 3-6 conference record, the Cougar women travel to Colorado Springs for a match up against the Air Force Academy on Thurs., Feb. 19 and at Albuquerque against New Mexico on Sat., Feb. 21. Both games tip off at 7 p.m.

The Air Force Academy is currently in last place in this week's MWC standings, most recently losing at New Mexico on Saturday, 31-79. The Falcons have a 3-18 overall record and are led in scoring by Latricia Castillo who's averaging 12.3 points and 3.0 rebounds. The team's leading rebounder is Amoy Jackson with her average of 5.5 boards a game. New Mexico

With a 6-2 league record, the Lobos are tied with UNLV for second place in this week's conference standings. UNM has a perfect 3-0 record in league play this season at home. They host Utah on Thursday night prior to Saturday night's contest with the Cougars. Junior forward Lindsey Arndt is the lone player on the Lobos team scoring in double figures. She's tallying 10.0 points and also leads the tea in rebounding, grabbing 7.0 boards per game. New Mexico shoots 40 percent from the field, 71 percent at the foul line and 33 percent from three-point range. They are scoring 63.9 points per game and holding opponents to 51.3 points per game.

Last Meeting: In earlier league play, the Cougars hosted the Lobos at the Marriott Center with New Mexico getting the 52-58 victory. When playing at the Pitt, BYU has a 10-12 record. Last time the Cougars won in Albuquerque was on Feb. 3in 2001, a 79-72 victory.

BYU Itinerary

On the afternoon of Wed., Feb. 18 the Cougar team leaves for Colorado Springs on Delta flight# 3908, arriving at 5:55 p.m. While there, the team's hotel will be the Embassy Suites hotel, 7290 Commerce Center Dr., 719-599-9100. On Friday, Feb. 20, BYU departs Colorado Springs and heads to Albuquerque, New Mexico, arriving there at 12:25 on United flight# 425. The team will stay at the Albuquerque Marriott, 2101 Louisiana Blvd., NE, 505-881-6800. After the two games, the team returns to Utah on Sun., Feb. 22 at 12:03 p.m., on Delta flight# 3978.

The Cougar team travels to instate rival Utah for a 3p.m., tip off at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City.
